My husband & I went to the north shore of Oahu recently. Our intent was to relax and soak up the sights and warmth of sun and surf. Taking time away from the everyday is good for the soul. And I am always looking for inspiration- new scenery is a great place to start.
I’ve been asked many times by friends and clients if I’ve visited Hawaii, and was told that the plant life and tropical flowers are breathtaking. They really are! But so are the landscapes. The windy mornings, big (sometimes intimidating) surf and fresh food warranted good results.
Take a gander… hibiscus, plumeria, gardenia, bougainvillea and flowering ginger were as ubiquitous as rhododendron and salal are around here.
Our last night we went sailing with a local charter in search of whales. Humpbacks frequent the calmer bays of the islands during winter months to flirt, breed and teach their young. We had spotted their activity from ashore all week- but to see them up close, was amazing.
While we still have more, farther-off travel destinations left in us. I do hope to return to this little corner of the world again.
